Oatbran is the outer skin of the Oat groat, found once the outer husk is removed. It is high in soluble fibre and is used in many products that can claim to reduce cholesterol as part of a healthy diet. Oatbran can be used as a topping for home baking or as a healthy eating supplement.

To make a warming porridge, use 50g flakes to 350ml of milk or water. Combine the flakes and liquid in a pan and bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer gently for 4 – 5 minutes. Stir continually, adding more liquid as necessary to ensure a creamy consistency. Serve with your favourite topping.
