£3.99Castor oil is a thick, viscous, rich and astringent oil. It is very soothing and nourishing, as well as being very affective at drawing impurities from the skin. Castor oil is often used for facial cleansing (combined with other carrier oils, typically 30% or less), for deep conditioning hair treatments, and for a naturopathic cleansing technique called ‘liver packing’.
Castor oil is derived from castor beans by cold-pressed extraction. If the oil is too thick for use, place the bottle in hot water to gently warm the oil.

Soak the beans in plenty of cold water for at least 8 hours or overnight. Rinse well and cover with water, boil rapidly for 15 minutes, discard this water, then add fresh water and simmer on a low heat until tender (around 1 hour). Drain and season to taste, or add to your favourite recipe.

Used sparingly, you can achieve the most delicate of pastel colours, while adding more gives you vibrant colours without changing the consistency of the product you are working with. You can also paint with them by adding a little water, although adding Rejuvenator Spirit or Dipping Solution works better.
